Anton Rodgers, the son of manager Brendan has jetted out with the Celtic squad for their pre-season camp in Austria, according to the Daily Record.

The Scottish news publication has detailed that the 24-year-old midfield playmaker will be a part of the Hoops team during their nine-day trip in Prague following his release from League Two club Swindon.

However, it is also detailed that Rodgers plans to continue with his career in England next season and that he won’t be making a permanent switch to Parkhead.

The Irishman has spent the entirety of his professional career in England and even worked with his dad during his days at the Chelsea academy.

He never made a senior appearance for the Blues, but he has featured for each of Brighton, Exeter, Oldham and Swindon in the English Football Leagues.

Last season alone he played 27 times in all competitions for Swindon, returning one goal and one assist and he will now be keen to find a club where he can gain more first team football.

Meanwhile, Celtic have already brought in attacker Jonny Hayes from Aberdeen this summer and Rodgers is expected to add further to last season’s treble winning side.
