Celtic winger Scott Sinclair has opened up about his ambitious plans to replicate the Hoops’ success next season.

The Glasgow-based side dominated Scottish football last season, securing a treble of the Premiership, Scottish Cup and Scottish League cup on their way to an unbeaten domestic season.

This impressive run was helped by left-winger Sinclair’s 21 league goals and eight assists, an impressive return for the 28-year-old in his debut season at Celtic Park.

However, the former Aston Villa and Manchester City man claims that the Hoops should be able to replicate their incredible run once again next season.

He told the Sunday Post: “I think we’re much stronger now.

“When we go into these games we’ll be looking to do exactly the same as we did last year.”

Celtic finished the season on a league record 106 points, failing to win on just four out of their 38 matches, as they stood 30 points clear from second placed Aberdeen come the end of the season.

However, they were unable to replicate their impressive league and cup form on the European stage, as they failed to pick up a single victory after qualifying for the group stage of the Champions League.

Instead they were able to muster up just three draws, including two against Manchester City, and Sinclair believes it is the Hoops’ form in Europe which needs to take priority.

“I’d say [making progress in Europe] is one of the main aims for us this season,” Sinclair told the Sunday Post.

“The main thing first of all is to get into the group stages. Once we do that then we can talk about how far we want to take it.”

Brendan Rodgers’ side learned on Monday that they would face either Northern Irish side Linfield FC or San Marino club SP La Fiorita in their second round qualifying tie.

This will see the Hoops commence their European campaign in early July, just less than a month prior to the opening fixtures of the Scottish Premiership.
