Scottish champions Celtic have been drawn against either Linfield FC or SP La Fiorita in the Champions League second qualifying round ahead of the upcoming season.

The draw, conducted on Monday, will see Brendan Rodgers’ side take on the the winner of match five of the first qualifying round in a two-legged tie, with the Hoops away in the first leg, set to be played out on the 11th or 12th of July.

Meanwhile fans of the Glasgow based side will have to wait until the 18th or 19th of July to see European football return to Celtic Park for the second leg.

However, they will have to wait until the fourth or fifth of July to learn whether they will face Northern Ireland’s Linfield or San Marino’s SP La Fiorita.

The clash will be the first of three ties if the Hoops are to reach the group stage of Europe’s most prestigious club competition.

Celtic joined the tournament at the same stage last season, and got off to the worst possible start with a shock 1-0 away defeat to Gibraltar based side Lincoln Red Imps.

Despite the setback, they overcame the minnows 3-0 at Celtic Park in the return leg, before beating Kazakhstan side Astana and Israeli club Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the remaining qualifying rounds.

However, they were unable to taste success in the group stage, picking up three points from three draws as they finished bottom of Group C, behind Barcelona, Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach.
