Wright confirms O’Halloran enquiry

St. Johnstone boss Tommy Wright has confirmed that he has made an enquiry to bring Rangers attacker Michael O’Halloran back to the club.

The Gers 26-year-old had previously spent two years at the Saints between 2014 and 2016, amassing 91 appearances where he returned 17 goals and 17 assists before making the move to Glasgow for a £500,000 fee.

However, under March appointment Pedro Caixinha he has played just 45 minutes for the club and was even ordered to train at 6am for a fortnight after missing an Under-20s game.

But, Wright believes that he can get the best of of O’Halloran again and he has told that the player is one he has enquired for and the decision now lies with the Ibrox giants.

“Michael is one player we have enquired about but in that position there are two or three other enquiries we have in at the minute,” said Wright, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“Michael’s situation is one that’s very much in Rangers’ hands. It’s not in any other club’s hands. It’s up to what Rangers want to do with him.

“I was sad to see him go and, as I say, we have spoken to Rangers about him, about the possibility, but that’s outwith my control. At the minute the ball is in Rangers’ court.”

O’Halloran is still contracted to Rangers until 2020, but he may be eager to gain more first team football at this stage of his career.

He has previously played for all of Tranmere, Bolton, Sheffield United and Carlisle also and a move down south may be another option for him.

But, like Rangers, St. Johnstone can also offer Europa League football and the right-winger may be keen to showcase his talents in Europe.
