Rangers must enter a transfer battle with Old Firm rivals Celtic in order to bring highly-rated Hibernian youngster John McGinn to Ibrox this summer.

The Daily Express claims Brendan Rodgers is eyeing a move for the 22-year-old and sees the Hibs midfielder as a long-term replacement for captain Scott Brown.

It is believed the hierarchy at Easter Road have already rejected a £1.2million approach for McGinn from Ipswich Town, after the three-time Scotland international starred in the green and white of Hibernian last season.

Pedro Caixinha has already made eight new signings this summer including ex-Aberdeen skipper Ryan Jack, and the Express also claim that he is set to make his ninth in the next 24 hours in Norwich’s Graham Dorrans.

This Is Futbol believes McGinn should be brought to Ibrox ahead of Celtic as the 54-time Scottish champions would be able to offer the former St. Mirren ace more concrete first-team opportunities.
