Brendan Rodgers would fortify Celtic’s chances of progressing to the knockout stages of the Champions League with the signing of Aston Villa forward Ross McCormack.

The Scotland international is currently at a crossroads in his career after a dismal spell with the Midlands outfit following his £12million move to Villa Park last summer from Championship side Fulham.

Struggling to have an impact under Roberto Di Matteo and Steve Bruce, McCormack was loaned out to Nottingham Forest but that failed to reinvigorate his career as he was overlooked by Mark Warburton since March.

Now, the 30-year-old is set for an interesting summer as he looks for a move that will help him get his career back on track and returning to his home country of Scotland would allow him to do just that.

This Is Futbol considers three reasons why the former Leeds United attacker would bolster Celtic’s chances of completing a second successive treble as well as guiding the Hoops into the last 16 of the Champions League.
