Rangers goalkeeper Liam Kelly has signed a new long-term contract at the club, it has been confirmed.

The Scottish club announced both on their official Twitter account and club website on Wednesday morning that the 21-year-old academy product had put pen-to-paper on a new two-year-deal at Ibrox.

The Glasgow-born stopper gained valuable first-team experience over the last two seasons during loan spells at Scottish lower league duo East Fife and Livingston, and Rangers have rewarded him with a new long-term deal.

He kept just one clean sheet from his 14 appearances in all competitions for Livingston last term, but fared much better with seven clean sheets from 16 matches during his previous spell with East Fife.

Kelly has yet to feature for the first-team at Rangers, due to the presence of Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick, but his new deal suggests that manager Pedro Caixinha believes he can be a valuable future asset.

The young shot-stopper has also been capped at Under 21 level for the Scotland national team, having earlier featured for the Under-16, Under-17 and Under-19 sides.

He first joined Rangers at the age of just 10, and was part of the Rangers Under 17 side that lifted the Glasgow Cup in 2012, courtesy of a penalty shoot-out win over rivals Celtic.
