Rangers have registered both striker Eduardo Herrera and midfielder Carlos Pena as eligible players for their upcoming Europa League qualifying campaign, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claim that manager Pedro Caixinha will be able to call upon the Mexican international duo for the first leg of the two-legged clash against Luxembourg outfit Progres Niederkorn in ten days’ time.

The Scottish Sun report that Rangers attempts to push through the signings of Herrera and Pena are currently being held up by paperwork.

It has been said that the pair have already agreed personal terms and completed medicals at the Scottish giants but they are waiting to be issued with visas enabling them to return to the UK.

Rangers had to submit their squad list on Monday, with their first qualifying fixture set to take place on 29 June, and it appears as though as many as eight summer signings could be in line to feature in that match.

The Ibrox club have been working overtime to overhaul their squad in the summer transfer window, with the sixth new arrival confirmed on Monday when Alfredo Morelos was unveiled.

The Colombian striker follows in the footsteps of Bruno Alves, Ryan Jack, Fabio Cardoso, Dalcio and Daniel Candeias.

More signings are expected as the Portuguese continues his summer overhaul at Ibrox, with Herrera and Pena not likely to be the only remaining potential new recruits.

Caixinha is still after at least another midfield player, with bids in for Norwich City midfielder Graham Dorrans and Hearts winger Jamie Walker.
