Everton have been installed the clear favourites to sign Moussa Dembele from Celtic following a dramatic shift in the bookmakers’ odds.
Sky Bet have priced the Merseyside giants at 15/8 on Monday night to land the prolific striker, 20, before the transfer window shuts on 3 September.
This comes after Everton were joint favourites with AC Milan at 11/4 at the start of the day to sign Dembele, when Chelsea were third favourites at 11/1.
By Monday night, the odds on both Milan and Chelsea had drifted considerably, with their prices now set at 7/2 and 14/1 respectively.
The Scottish Sun claimed at the weekend that the Toffees are preparing to smash their club transfer record of £30million this summer in order to add Dembele to the big-name arrivals at Goodison Park.
Everton have already spent £54million on new blood, with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford arriving for £30million from Sunderland and playmaker Davy Klaassen joining for £24million from Ajax.
The Sun report that Dembele is being targeted by Everton as a direct replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who is set to join Chelsea or Manchester United in a deal that could exceed £80million.
France Under-21 international Dembele is a player in demand after a brilliant Celtic debut season in which he scored 32 goals from 49 matches in all competitions, including a sensational hat-trick on his Old Firm debut.
