Everton have completed the signing of FC Volendam defender Nathan Markelo, the club confirmed on Monday.
The Premier League side announced on their official website that the 18-year-old joins from Holland’s second division and he has penned a three-year deal with the club.
The highly-rated youngster, who can play in various defensive roles from centre-back to right-back, will join up with Everton reserve coach David Unsworth.

Markelo becomes Ronald Koeman’s third signing of the summer after they captured Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and Ajax captain Davy Klaassen for big-money fees last week.
It remains to be seen if Markelo does earn any game time under Koeman next season, with the Merseyside outfit set to endure a gruelling campaign.
They will enter the qualifying stages of the Europa League next month, which could result in them participating in four competitions.
Nonetheless, Markelo has played for Holland’s Under-18s on two occasions and at club level, he has represented Volendam at the Under-19 and 21 levels.
The youngster could look towards Everton academy product Tom Davies as a player who enjoyed a breakthrough season under Koeman last term.
The 18-year-old midfielder played 24 Premier League matches, scoring two goals and supplying three assists, including producing a Man of the Match display against Manchester City in January.
