Championship side Norwich City have made a bid for Rangers’ 18-year-old midfielder Jamie Barjonas, according to HITC Sport.

The news website claim that the Norfolk club are hoping to prise the youngster away from Ibrox after being impressed by his handful of performances for the Rangers first team last season.

HITC claim that Norwich are just one of a number of teams whose attention was drawn following his senior debut against Partick Thistle back in May, but the Canaries appear to be the first to make a move.

Rangers may find it difficult to keep a hold of Barjonas, who has got experience for Scotland’s U17 side, with his contract set to expire in just over a year’s time.

He made four first team appearances last season, and will have been aiming to put himself in the reckoning for a place in Pedro Caixinha’s senior squad once again for the upcoming campaign.

However, with the Portuguese boss bringing in central midfielders Carlos Pena, Ryan Jack and Dalcio this summer, the youngster may believe his best chance for first time action lies away from Ibrox.

Barjonas managed to earn himself four appearances for Rangers during the last campaign, with his first start coming in the final day 2-1 victory away at St Johnstone, in which he played 89 minutes.
