Mexico international forward Eduardo Herrera is the most likely player to join the raft of new signings at Rangers this summer, according to Football Whispers.

Sky Sports’ transfer section (Thursday, 11.05am) regularly plugs its Football Whispers, which claimed on Thursday that the 28-year-old was the most likely player to follow Fabio Cardoso, Bruno Alves, Ryan Jack and Dalcio through the Ibrox entrance doors in the remainder of the window.

There have been widespread reports, including from Mexican outlet Mediotempo, that Rangers are closing in on the signing of Herrera.

It is said that only paperwork formalities, including official clearance from the Scottish FA, are preventing the striker from wrapping up the move.

This has now led to Football Whispers, which gathers all transfer rumours across the globe and calculates the likelihood of them happening, to rate it 4.2 out of 5 that Herrera will become a Rangers player, with five the highest possible ranking and meaning it is a certainty.

The nine-time capped Mexico international is ahead in the ratings of Norwich midfielder Graham Dorrans, who has a rating of 2.6, and Arsenal defender Krystian Bielik, whose rating for moving to the Ibrox giants is 1.5.

Herrera is currently playing for Mexican outfit UNAM and scored six goals in 28 appearances in all competitions last season.

He is well known to Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha from his time as boss of Santos Laguna in Mexico.
