Rangers new signing Fabio Cardoso has claimed it was “an honour” to meet players such as Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace when he arrived at Ibrox on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old defender also stated he was ready to learn from his fellow countryman Bruno Alves, and that the Ibrox faithful would be impressed by Dalcio’s attacking flair.

The Glasgow giants announced Cardoso’s arrival on their official Twitter account on Wednesday morning.

Cardoso is manager Pedro Caixinha’s fourth summer signing, as Alves and Ryan Jack’s arrivals were announced last week, while Dalcio was unveiled on Tuesday.

Speaking to Rangers TV, as quoted by rangers.co.uk, the 23-year-old made it clear he was looking forward to getting started with his new teammates.

He said: “[Alves] is an amazing player and is one of the best defenders from my country. I know with him I will learn a lot.

“Dalcio is going to surprise the supporters, he is a very young player but he is very good and very fast. He is good to score and he is going to bring great happiness to the supporters.

“I had the opportunity to meet [my teammates]and I was very well received by them. It is an honour to meet players like Lee Wallace, Jason [Holt] and Kenny Miller, and the others. They are big players and I am very happy.”

The centre-back joins Rangers from Vitoria Setubal, where he was one of the top performers in the 2016/17 campaign, making 27 appearances in all competitions.

Cardoso began his professional career with Benfica, but he failed to break into the first team and signed for Vitoria Setubal in the summer of last year.

He made 55 appearances for the Benfica B team between 2012 and 2016, scoring three goals.

The 23-year-old was also capped four times by Portugal Under-20s in his youth, but he is yet to feature for his nation’s senior squad.
