Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has claimed that his side are not yet finished in this summer’s transfer window despite their early activity.

The club have already seen eight new recruits through the doors at Ibrox, with the Portuguese manager preparing ahead of what is set to be a busy campaign.

Rangers’ season kicks off today (Thursday) in their Europa League qualifier at home to Luxembourg side Progres Niederkorn, with up to seven of their new arrivals set to make their debut.

However, Caixinha insists that the club’s business is not yet complete, as he targets yet more signings during his first transfer window in charge.

Speaking to the press ahead of Thursday’s clash, the Daily Record quote him as saying: “We still have some positions to fill regarding to the plan, but we think we can do it with two months to finish it.

“It’s been a huge and massive task that this club has done in this transfer window.”

However, the manager’s overhaul has seen a number of players frozen out of the first-team reckoning, with Andy Halliday the first confirmed departure with a loan move to Azerbaijan side Gabala.

Meanwhile Barrie McKay’s future at the club is also in doubt after Caixinha told him he would play no part in Thursday’s tie, despite his inclusion in the 30-man squad, and instructed to train with the U20 side.

However, the 46-year-old manager stands by his heavy handed approach to management, saying that his players must be aware of the standards he expects, or face the consequences.

“If you have the standards to keep, or even to raise those standards and defend those standards, you’ll be receiving one chance to stay on. If not, life goes on,” the Daily Record quote Caixinha as saying.

“They know what I want from them, or the reason why I am not counting on them.

“They need to understand that things are going in this direction.”

McKay will be joined on the sidelines by Michael O’Halloran, Harry Forrester, Joe Dodoo, Rob Kiernan and Matt Crooks for the clash against Niederkorn.
