Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has urged his team to put away scoring chances and be “more aggressive” when getting in attacking positions.

The Glasgow club are currently preparing for their Europa League qualifiers which will begin in July following their third-placed finish last term.

Caixinha, who was appointed as Mark Warburton’s replacement in March, has already added six new players to his squad ahead of the forthcoming campaign.

The biggest name he has added to his squad is defender and Portugal international, Bruno Alves, with striker Alfredo Morelos being his latest addition.

When talking about improving areas of Rangers’ game, Caixinha believes “all the rest” is okay but they need to show improvement in the final third.

“There are small things you need to keep improving so, for example, we missed a lot of scoring chances and we need to be more aggressive to attack the scoring positions,” Caixinha told the club’s official website. “We need to work more on those situations – all the rest was okay.”

During the recently concluded Scottish Premiership campaign, the Gers scored 56 goals from their 38 league matches.

That was 18 goals fewer than second-placed Aberdeen and an incredible 50 goals fewer than their Old Firm rivals Celtic, who went on to clinch the title by dropping only four points throughout the campaign.

Nonetheless, ahead of the forthcoming season, Caixinha will be hoping his side can produce better performances on the field of play and challenge Celtic for the title.

The two teams met on six occasions last term, with Brendan Rodgers team winning five of those encounters, including two 5-1 wins.
