Celtic great Tom Boyd wants current manager Brendan Rodgers to stay at the club for another decade, and believes Champions League success could lead to ten consecutive titles.

The 44-year-old boss became Celtic boss at the start of the 2016-17 season following his dismissal from Premier League side Liverpool.

Rodgers enjoyed a sensational debut season at Celtic Park as he secured the first trophies of his managerial career by guiding the Hoops to a memorable domestic treble, including a sixth consecutive league title for the club.

The Hoops won 34 out of the 38 league matches, picking up a record total of 106 points and clinched the league title with eight games of the season remaining.

Celtic made history last season as they became the first Scottish side ever to remain unbeaten throughout the entire domestic campaign since the late 19th Century.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, Boyd hopes that the Celtic boss stays at the club for the foreseeable future as he believes that the club are on course to secure ten consecutive league titles.

“Qualifying for the group phase [of the Champions League] could secure ten-in-a-row. It’s very possible, especially if Brendan signs quality players.

“His impact has been incredible… I’d like him to sign for another ten years after that and see where he takes us,” he said.

“You want to set records that can never be broken. We are at six titles now and it’s looking good.”

Boyd is someone who is very familiar with winning titles at Celtic Park as he captained Martin O’Neill’s treble winning side during the 2000-01 season.

Rogders will be hoping to secure Celtic’s seventh consecutive league title and also improve on their Champions League performances next season.
