Brendan Rodgers would take a huge step in pushing Celtic towards the Champions League knockout stages by rivalling Watford for Derby County’s Will Hughes.

Bleacher Report transfer expert Dean Jones claimed on his personal Twitter account that Premier League side Watford were closing in on a £5million move for 22-year-old ace Hughes.

Hughes has been instrumental in Derby’s 2016-17 campaign, making a huge 42 league and cup appearances for Derby and even finding the back of the net on two separate occasions against Nottingham Forest and Reading.

Derby’s number 19 still has three years left on his contract at the iPro Stadium, but he is set for an interesting transfer window this summer as he looks to impress in Poland with England’s Under-21 side.

This Is Futbol is adamant that Hughes would hugely improve Celtic’s side in the middle of the park for three different reasons, as they look to go one better in the Champions League.
