Lucas is set to leave Liverpool on a free transfer this month after 10 years with the Merseyside giants, three of which were spent with Rodgers after the 44-year-old took over at Anfield in 2012.
Now, with his contract set to expire, Lucas has already said his goodbyes and Celtic could sign the Brazil international on a free transfer.
With 57 appearances in the Champions League and Europa League, the holding midfielder’s knowledge of Europe’s elite could give Celtic an advantage when they look to go one better and reach the knockout stages next season.
