Harry Redknapp believes that Celtic forward Scott Sinclair deserves a place in the England team.

The 28-year-old signed for the Hoops from Championship side Aston Villa at the start of the 2016-17 season for a fee of around £4million.

Sinclair enjoyed an excellent debut season at Celtic Park, scoring 25 goals and providing 11 assists in 50 appearances in all competitions.

The forward’s contribution helped the Hoops complete their first domestic treble for the first time in 16 years and they became the first Scottish side in the modern age to go through an entire domestic campaign without tasting defeat.

Sinclair also became a fan favourite amongst the Celtic supporters as he scored a total of four goals in six appearances against Rangers in the Old Firm derbies last season.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, the Birmingham City manager was full of praise for the Celtic man and he believes that he should be given the opportunity to demonstrate his qualities on the international stage.

“Scott Sinclair’s a real talent,” he said.

“I see the England team and I don’t know why he isn’t involved.

“I know he’s done it in Scotland this year but he’s a boy who I think has the ability to do it at the top level.

“Brendan’s got it out of him. That’s what happened at Swansea and now he’s had a great season at Celtic.”

Sinclair has never made a single appearance for the England senior team throughout his playing career but he has made seven appearances with the Under-21 squad.

The Celtic man was involved with the Great Britain team which participated at the 2012 London Olympics, making three appearances and scoring one goal.
