Stan Collymore has hailed the “excellent” performance of Celtic defender Kieran Tierney after he helped Scotland record a 2-2 draw against England on Saturday at Hampden.

Gordon Strachan started the 20-year-old during the crucial World Cup qualifier and Collymore believes he has enhanced his reputation in the transfer market because of his standout individual display.

Versatile defender Tierney started the match at left-back before Strachan opted to move the highly-rated youngster to the right-hand side of defence because of an injury to one of his teammates.

Despite the tactical switch, Tierney was instrumental, both going forward and defending, for his side with three goals being scored in the final six minutes of the match.

After the encounter, former Liverpool striker Collymore offered his thoughts on the Celtic player and stated what the scouts would be thinking of him.

“Thought Tierney was excellent,” Collymore wrote on his personal Twitter account. “One or two scouts will be sending glowing reports down south.”

Substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain opened the scoring for England when he struck from inside the penalty area midway through the second half.

However, two spectacular free-kicks from Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths put his country ahead before Kane scored a late equaliser in stoppage time.

Over the course of the season, Tierney played 40 matches in all competitions for Brendan Rodgers side, who won the domestic treble and finished the Scottish Premiership campaign unbeaten.

Tierney, who was on the sidelines for a two month period because of an ankle injury, played a big part in that success supplying 12 assists and scoring two goals for his side.
