New Celtic signing Jonny Hayes has delivered an emotional parting message to Aberdeen.

The 29-year-old wide forward has out pen-to-paper on a three-year deal and the transfer also sees Hoops starlet Ryan Christie moving to Aberdeen on a season-long loan.

The Bhoys announced Hayes’ arrival from on their official website and on their official Twitter account on Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after his transfer was confirmed, he took to Twitter to post an emotional parting message to his former club.

On his personal Twitter account, Hayes wrote: “I appreciate the good will from AFC fans. I loved every minute there, a proper family club.

“Everyone from the chairman down, have nothing but my respect and admiration as I leave, none more so than Derek McInnes, I know I owe a lot to him.”

By joining the Hoops, Hayes becomes manager Brendan Rodgers’ first signing of the summer, as he looks to further strengthen his treble-winning squad.

 The 29-year-old was one of the Dons’ top performers last season, supplying an incredible 24 assists in 44 league and cup games, as well as netting 11 goals.

He spent five years at the club and he made 207 appearances across all competitions for the club, which yielded an impressive 30 goals and 71 assists.

Rodgers and Hayes have previously worked together at Reading, and the player delivered a glowing review of his new boss in an interview on the Hoops’ official website.
