West Ham United are interested in signing Sampdoria striker Luis Muriel this summer, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that the 26-year-old fancies a move away from the Serie A side despite recently signing a brand new deal with the Italian club.

A buy-back clause is reportedly included in the contract worth £24million and the Hammers are willing to match it in order to land the Colombia this summer.

The East London club are set to face competition as fellow Premier League sides Liverpool and Leicester City are both keen on the striker alongside Italian clubs Inter Milan and Roma.

The report claims that West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has made it his priority to sign a centre-forward this summer as the Hammers struggled to find the back of the net in the league last season.

Bilic appears determined to bring in a striker as Goal recently reported that West Ham are willing to pay £20million in order to sign Olivier Giroud from London rivals Arsenal.

Muriel enjoyed an impressive second campaign with the Serie A side as he contributed with 13 goals and nine assists in all competitions last season.

The Colombian’s current contract with Sampdoria runs out in the summer of 2019.
