Manchester United are edging ever closer to a deal for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata with just a transfer fee set to be agreed, according to Diario AS.

The Spanish sports newspaper claim on their website that talks have resumed for the forward’s transfer following his recent wedding, and that all that is left to do is arrange an agreeable fee.

They report that United have tabled a £61million (€70million) bid for the 24-year-old, but state that the Spanish champions and Champions League holders are holding out for a fee of between £70million and £79million (€80 and €90million).

The Sun claim that Morata has agreed personal terms with Manchester United, with a five-year contract of £350,000-a-week mooted.

The 21-time-capped Spanish international made 43 appearances across all competitions for Real Madrid last season, scoring 20 goals and chipping in with six assists.

He rejoined the Spanish giants from Italian heavyweights Juventus in the summer of 2016, having spent six years in the youth and senior setup at the Santiago Bernabeu between 2008 and 2014.

He signed a five-year contract, in a move which cost Real £25million to secure their former man, meaning he is contracted to the club until 2020.

Despite this, it is reported he is keen to depart the Spanish capital once again as a result of a lack of time in the starting XI, with French forward Karim Benzema often preferred by boss Zinedine Zidane.
