West Ham are prepared to splash the cash in order to secure the £20million signing of Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud this summer, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Hammers are willing to offer the 30-year-old forward a wage of £130,000-a-week over four years to convince him to make the short move from the Emirates to the London Stadium.

The Mirror report that West Ham are “desperate” to push through the signing with a mega-money offer worth a total of £47million in transfer fee and salary.

It would be an increase on the £120,000 he currently earns at Arsenal, having signed a new deal in January, and would see him earn an initial £6.7million-a-year at the East London side.

Giroud, who has 27 goals in 64 appearances for his country, has been heavily linked with a move to the Hammers this summer, with Slaven Bilic in the market for a new striker to spearhead his side.

The 30-year-old is looking to secure first team football next season, and with RMC Sport claiming that the Gunners are on the verge of signing Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette, a departure from North London looks the most likely way to ensure a place in a starting XI.

He has scored 98 goals in 228 appearances during his time at Arsenal, but found himself limited to a fringe role last season, making just 17 starts in his 40 appearances.

Despite this, he still managed to net 17 goals and rack up seven assists, as Arsenal finished a disappointing fifth place and missed out on qualifying for the Champions League next season.
