West Ham are readying a £20million bid for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud which will see them pay the French international £100,000-a-week, according to a report by Goal.

The football news website claim that the Hammers are keen on securing a deal to keep the striker in London, which is where the 30-year-old has reportedly said he would prefer to remain.

The report also states that there have already been preliminary talks between the East London side and the 64-time-capped French international’s representatives, and say that Giroud, who is contracted at the Emirates until 2019, is keen on making the short trip across the capital.

The Gambling Times report that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to let the target man depart this summer, so long as the Gunners receive a suitable fee and replacements are brought in.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic is known to be in the market for a striker this summer, with Chelsea’s Bertrand Traore and Michy Batshuyai both linked in joining Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll as the Croatian manager’s options up front.

However it appears that it could be Giroud, who netted 16 goals in 40 appearances for the Gunners last season, who makes the move to the London Stadium this summer.

He has scored 98 goals and contributed 41 assists in his 227 appearances across five seasons since joining the North London side back in 2012.
