Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed the signing of defender Roderick Miranda, it has been confirmed.

The Championship club announced on their official Twitter account on Tuesday evening that the 26-year-old had joined from Portuguese outfit Rio Ave for an undisclosed fee.

Miranda, who began his senior career at European giants Benfica, has put pen-to-paper on a four-year-deal at Molineux.

The centre-back becomes Wolves’ first signing of the summer, as well as the first new recruit under the stewardship of newly-appointed manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who previously worked alongside Miranda at Rio Ave.

Santo was appointed as the new Wolves manager less than a fortnight ago, but has immediately sought to put his own stamp on the first-team squad, following their 15th place finish in the Championship last term.

The first item on the agenda has been a move to rectify their poor defensive record, with the Midlands club shipping 54 goals from their 38 league matches.

Miranda brings valuable experience to the club ahead of their promotion push next term, having featured for Portugal at youth level.

However, he has yet to make the jump up to the senior setup, earning his last appearance for the Under-20 side back in 2011.

He made 94 appearances in all competitions during his time at Rio Ave, scoring fourĀ goals and supplying two assists.
