Premier League newcomers Newcastle United are considering a summer move for West Ham midfielder Robert Snodgrass, according to Claret and Hugh.

The West Ham news site claim that Newcastle are “the most fancied” destination for the 29-year-old winger this summer, following a poor start to life at the London Stadium.

Snodgrass moved to the Hammers in a deal in excess of £10million during the January transfer window, but failed to score a single goal and registered just two assists from his 15 appearances for the club.

But it is understood that West Ham may be willing to cut their losses on the Scotland international this summer, and are ready to listen to offers worth just £8million for the player.

Newcastle were keen to sign the former Hull City goalscorer before he sealed a move to east London, and Rafa Benitez is backed to re-ignite his interest in the forthcoming transfer window.

The Spaniard is looking to bolster his ranks ahead of Newcastle’s return to the Premier League this season, and is in pursuit of no fewer than six new additions this summer.

Independent website West Ham World had earlier credited Brighton with a keen interest, and that they were willing to test West Ham’s resolve with an £8million offer,

But it is now understood by Claret and Hugh that Premier League rivals Newcastle are “very likely” to win the race to sign Snodgrass this summer, despite increasing interest from elsewhere.
