West Ham defensive midfielder Havard Nordtveit has given his honest opinion on his time at the club amid rumours of a potential move back to Germany.

German news outlet Kicker reports that a trio of Bundesliga clubs, TSG Hoffenheim, VfL Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen, are interested in snatching up the 26-year-old after just one season in East London, having joined from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer.

The 31-time-capped Norweigan international endured a difficult first campaign in England, earning himself just 11 starts under Slaven Bilic, as the Croatian boss saw his side finish 11th in the Premier League.

The player himself has opened up about his time at the London Stadium, and did not rule out a potential move away from the club.

He told Norweigan tabloid newspaper Dagbladet on their website: “It was not like I had envisioned it to be.

“I will never reject a return to the Bundesliga.  Currently, I let the speculation lie.”

Nordtveit, who stands at 6’2″, has demonstrated his versatility through the heart of a team, with an awareness which allows him to play in the centre of midfield or in defence.

He impressed during his five seasons at German side Monchengladbach, making 187 domestic appearances and contributing 12 goals to his side’s cause, while his most recent appearance came for his country on Saturday in a 1-1 draw against the Czech Republic.
