Havard Nordtveit could be offered an escape route from his nightmare spell at West Ham as three Bundesliga clubs are interested in signing him, according to a Kicker report.

The German media outlet claims TSG Hoffenheim, VfL Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen are in a three-club race to sign the 26-year-old, who failed to make an impact in his first season with the Hammers.

Nordtveit, 26, started just 11 Premier League games last term, and he was unable to produce the form which saw him earn a move from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer.

He may now be set to return to the Bundlesliga, where he is highly rated, after spending five seasons with Monchengladbach.

Nordtveit was a top performer for the club during his time there, making 187 league and cup appearances and scoring 12 goals.

The Norwegian is primarily a defensive midfielder, but he can also play comfortably at centre-back and at right-back, but he still failed to nail down a starting spot in the Hammers last term.

The 26-year-old has been capped by Norway 30 times, scoring two goals, most recently appearing in the side’s 2-0 World Cup qualifying defeat to Northern Ireland in March of this year.

West Ham finished in 11th-place in the Premier League last term, as a late season upturn in form saw them climb away from the relegation dogfight.
