Tottenham could sign Porto right-back Ricardo Pereira for £9million less than his release clause, according to London Football News

The regional football site claim Spurs could snap the Portugal international, 23, up for a bargain fee as they set about securing a replacement for Manchester City-bound Kyle Walker.

London Football News report that Porto are prepared to negotiate a fee for Pereira that is far less than his £22million release clause and a broker close to the player has said that the club could consider £13million to be a “realistic” sum.

This will provide Tottenham with encouragement as they prepare for City to make a formal approach for Walker, 27, who is valued at around £40million.

Portugese publication Sabado claim Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has closely followed Pereira for the last two years and has identified him as his number one target to replace Walker.

It is said that it is “inevitable” that the England international will join Manchester City in the coming weeks, necessitating the requirement for the north Londoners to secure a top-class replacement.

Pereira joined Porto in 2013 but has played only 34 games for the club and has spent the past two seasons on loan at Nice, where he has developed into one of the outstanding players in his position in Ligue 1.

The two-times Portugal international is now back at his parent club after making a big impression at the Ligue 1 outfit, where he has been a mainstay of the team.

Like Walker, Pereira is renowned for his great athleticism and speed, which make him a major attacking threat on the right flank from his defensive position.
