Manchester United fans took to Twitter to express their excitement after it was announced that Benfica defender Victor Lindelof had signed a four-year deal with the club.
The Red Devils confirmed their new signing on the club’s official website on Wednesday afternoon, and fans were quick to share their thoughts on social media.
Many United supporters instantly mentioned the possible partnership between their new signing and fellow defender Eric Bailly, and compared it to a brick wall.
Lindelof was signed for nearly £31 million, making him United’s most expensive ever defender after Ferdinand previously cost £29.1 million.

Love that from Lindelof – talking trophies straight away. Good lad. If he settles anything like Bailly we're sorted at the back!

You will have a better 2nd season knowing that the Great Wall of Bailly/Lindelof will be behind you rather than Smalling/Jones ? https://t.co/sfwVVpUKXR

The overall consensus from fans suggests that the Swedish centre-back will be popular at Old Trafford, however some supporters have suggested that the 22-year-old’s arrival could create problems for Chris Smalling’s place in the squad.
Smalling had a season riddled with injuries during the 2016/17 campaign, missing 12 games after suffering a broken toe during United’s Europa League win against Fenerbahce back in October, which led to boss Jose Mourinho questioning his strength
He also suffered a knee injury towards the end of the season.
Fans’ doubts have also been reflected within a number of reports which also suggest that the 27-year-old could be making an exit from Old Trafford, after being linked with clubs such as West Ham, Everton, and West Brom.
