Tottenham are on the verge of completing the sale of Clinton N’Jie to French giants Marseille, according to ESPN FC.

The football website claim that the winger, 23, is set to join the Ligue 1 outfit on a permanent transfer after spending the 2016/17 season on loan.

ESPN report that Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has decided not to trigger a recall clause in the loan contract, which will allow Marseille to proceed with converting the temporary deal into a permanent one.

It is said that the move is in the final stages and will be announced by both Tottenham and Marseille “once the paperwork is complete”.

N’Jie was filmed arriving back at the French club for the start of preseason on Monday in a clear sign that the move is imminent.

The Cameroon international joined Spurs from Lyon in the summer of 2015 after an impressive Ligue 1 campaign in which he had scored seven goals and supplied eight assists.

But N’Jie could not make the same impact at White Hart Lane as a combination of injury and poor form restricted him to just 14 first-team appearances in a forgettable debut season.

He got more game time at the Stade Velodrome last season, with 23 appearances in all competitions yielding four goals and a single assist.
