Tottenham goalscoring sensation Harry Kane has laid down his ambition to hit 50 goals for the club next season.

The 23-year-old was in red hot form in front of goal yet again for Tottenham during the 2016-17 campaign, netting a stunning 35 goals from just 38 appearances in all competitions.

His goalscoring exploits earned him the Premier League Golden Boot award for the second consecutive year, while it was also the third successive season where Kane has scored more than 20 league goals.

However, Kane has set his sights on achieving even bigger things next season, and will target an incredible 50 goals across the Premier League, Champions League and domestic cup competitions.

He told the Standard: “[50 goals] It’s a target I would love to get to. Hopefully I can stay fit for the whole season next season.

“That’s always the aim and 50 goals is something I would love to achieve. It was a very good year this year. There is plenty still to work on and improve, but I’m looking forward to having a break then going again.”

Kane spent two short spells on the sidelines with ankle injuries last season, and his absence of playing time denied him the opportunity to add even more goals to his tally.

The England international missed a total of eight league games, but upon his return to the side following his most recent absence, he picked up exactly where he left off.

His impressive finish to the campaign saw him score eight goals from his final three matches, including back-to-back hat-tricks against Leicester City and Hull.

But since the end of the domestic campaign, Kane has continued his form on the international stage, netting four times as England drew 2-2 with Scotland, and then lost 3-2 to France last week.

His international goalscoring record had been slated with just five strikes from his 17 caps, but he now has eight goals from 19 matches with a World Cup on the horizon next year.
