Tottenham have suffered a setback ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign as attacker Erik Lamela is set to miss the opening months of the season due to his hip injury, according to the Mirror.

The 25-year-old is scheduled to return from injury in October which means that he’ll have been out of action for an entire year.

The Argentina international will miss important matches at the start of the season as Spurs face Chelsea, West Ham United and Everton before October, not to mention the opening games of the Champions League campaign.

This will come as a massive blow for the North London side who have received bad news on the injury front concerning forward Son Heung-Min as the Yonhap News Agency claimed that the South Korean is set to be sidelined for at least four weeks.

Lamela last featured in the EFL Cup 4th Round tie against Liverpool at Anfield last October where he was forced off the pitch within the opening 30 minutes of the match.

Lamela only managed to make 14 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham last season, scoring two goals and providing seven assists.

The attacking midfielder has become an important part of the squad since joining the North London club in 2013, with over 100 appearances for Tottenham.
