Tottenham attacker Son Heung-Min is set to be out of action for at least four weeks following news that surgery on a broken arm is “inevitable”, according to Yonhap News Agency.

The South Korean equivalent of the Press Association report that the 54-time-capped international suffered a broken right forearm during their 3-2 defeat to Qatar in their World Cup qualifier.

The news agency claim that doctors told Son that surgery was “inevitable” and that he will now hold talks with his international side’s doctors to establish when and where the operation should take place, with an expected recovery time of at least four weeks.

This news will come as a big blow to Mauricio Pochettino and his Spurs side, with the North London club’s pre-season preparations set to kick off at the start of July, meaning Son will miss at least the start of his side’s build up to next season.

Spurs are set to take part in the Champions Cup friendly tournament at the end of July, with matches against Paris Saint-Germain, Roma and fellow Premier League side Manchester City.

Son demonstrated fine form for Spurs last season, scoring 21 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, filling in for first choice striker Harry Kane as the English forward suffered a succession of injuries which ruled him out of action for several weeks.
