La Liga giants Barcelona are planning to a make a move for Tottenham playmaker Dele Alli should they fail to sign Marco Verratti this summer, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish outlet claims that the Catalans are desperate to sign a midfielder and they are doing everything within their power to land Verratti this summer but Paris Saint-Germain are not prepared to let the Italian leave the club.

The report claims that Barcelona are aware that the Verratti deal might not happen so they have reportedly assigned Alli as a Plan B option because they believe that his versatility and eye for goal could be an invaluable asset for the club next season.

The La Liga side reportedly understand that landing the 21-year-old this summer will also not be an easy task as he is currently one of the most important players at the North London club.

The young Englishman enjoyed a sensational second campaign at White Hart Lane, contributing with 22 goals and 13 assists in all competitions last season.

Alli’s fantastic contribution was recognised by his fellow peers as he was named the PFA Young Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Over the last couple of years, the midfielder has developed a fantastic partnership with Spurs striker Harry Kane and the two men have been instrumental in helping Tottenham became genuine challengers for the Premier League title.

Alli’s current contract with the North London club expires in 2022.
