Three Russian stars Newcastle must watch in clash v Portugal

|

Fedor Smolov

Smolov, 27, smashed his way to the top of the Russian Premier League’s goalscoring charts this season with 18 goals in just 22 league games. The versatile forward found the back of the net 25 times in 31 league and cup encounters.

However, his current side Krasnodar finished in a lowly fourth place behind CSKA Moscow, Zenit St. Petersburg and Spartak Moscow and the forward will believe he is capable of plying his trade at a better side.

Scoring for Russia in their 2-0 win over New Zealand last week, Smolov would be a gargantuan improvement on Newcastle’s current forwards and a low price could be struck if Smolov forces his way out of Krasnodar.
