Leeds United are in talks with FC Twente about signing midfielder Mateusz Klich, according to Dutch publication De Telegraaf.

The reliable Holland-based outlet claim that the Championship giants have a “concrete interest” in making the Poland international, 27, one of their first summer captures.

De Telegraaf report that the two clubs are locked in negotiations over a deal as Twente plan for the sale of a player who made a big impact last season following his summer 2016 arrival from Kaiserlautern.

Klich is said to be open to a move to England in a clear signal that the transfer can be thrashed out in the coming weeks.

The report comes after Dutch publication Tubantia reported on Tuesday morning that Leeds’ opening bid for Klich had been rejected but they were set to return with a second offer for the midfield creator.

De Telegraaf are renowned as Holland’s most reliable source of transfer news and their report suggests that Leeds “beckons” for Klich as the club work intently on presenting new manager Thomas Christiansen with him before the new season.

He was a key player for the Twente team that finished seventh in the Dutch Eredivisie in 2016-17, with his 29 league appearances yielding a notable six goals and four assists.

Klich will not come cheap as he has 10 Poland caps and a contract at the Dutch club that has two more years to run.
