Aaron Tshibola’s future at Aston Villa is still up in the air, according to a report in the Birmingham Mail.

The newspaper claims that Championship clubs have been sniffing around the 22-year-old midfielder but no formal offer has been received for his services.

It is said that Tshibola will report for pre-season training in two weeks time unless a surprise move away from Villa Park is sourced.

Tshibola moved to the Midlands from Reading during the summer of 2016 after Villa were relegated from the Premier League.

He scored one goal in his first five matches under Roberto Di Matteo but struggled to break into the starting XI after Steve Bruce arrived at the club in October.

As a result, he was shipped out on loan to relegation strugglers Nottingham Forest but he only made four appearances for the Midlands side.

The report states that ahead of the forthcoming Championship campaign, Tshibola will have the chance to impress Bruce.

It will be difficult for Tshibola to break into the Villa team because Bruce did sign midfield duo Conor Hourihane and Henri Lansbury during the January transfer window.

Added with that, defensive powerhouse Mile Jedinak is a regular started and academy product, Gary Gardner is the backup option to the experienced trio.

Tshibola, who is a product of the Reading academy, has three-years left on his current deal at Villa Park.
