Newcastle United youngster Tom Heardman is attracting interest from Bury this summer, according to a reliable journalist.

Chronicle reporter Lee Ryder claimed on his personal Twitter account on Friday evening that the League One outfit were eying a season-long loan deal for the 21-year-old striker.

Heardman is a highly-rated prospect within the academy ranks at St. James’ Park, and has been a regular performer for the Under 23 side in recent seasons.

The youngster has yet to make his first-team debut for the Magpies, but the club have been keen to keep him on board for the long-term and moved to hand him a fresh contract earlier this month.

His previous deal was set to expire this summer, and after being handed a glowing recommendation from academy coach Peter Beardsley, Newcastle chiefs swiftly tied him down to fresh terms.

However, with the club aware at the lack of first-team opportunities that are likely to be available for Heardman in the Premier League this season, he looks set to be sent out on loan.

Heardman spent a short spell on loan at Hartlepool United during the 2016-17 season, where he made only three appearances, and he is reportedly attracting interest from Bury this summer.

The Chronicle reported earlier this month that Scottish Premiership outfit Hearts were also interested in a loan deal for Heardman, but they are now set to face competition from the League One side.
