Newcastle United have placed a £13million price tag on Aleksandar Mitrovic as they attempt to offload him this summer, according to a Fanatik report.

This would represent a loss on the near-£16million the club paid for him in 2015 from Anderlecht, but it appears that he is not a part of Benitez’s long-term plans, despite being a fan favourite.

It is said Fenerbahce are weighing up a summer move for Mitrovic, although they would prefer a loan deal to a permanent one, and that Mitrovic is keen to move.

The report states Benitez is keen to offload the Serbian front man, who was an active member of the Magpies’ first team last term.

The 22-year-old was a big part of Newcastle’s front line last season, scoring six goals in 29 league and cup games and providing six assists.

Since his switch from Anderlecht he has made 65 appearances across all competitions, which have yielded 15 goals and 10 assists.

Benitez is looking to strengthen all areas of his squad this summer, and he may see selling the Serbian as a good opportunity to raise some cash to fund other transfers.

Mitrovic has been capped by Serbia on 27 occasions, and he has scored eight goals, one of which came in the 1-1 European Championships qualifying draw with Wales earlier this month.
