Newcastle United are monitoring Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, according to the Chronicle.

The newspaper claims manager Rafa Benitez is looking to add another goalkeeper to the current squad and the 30-year-old goalkeeper is high on the list.

The report claims that the Spaniard has also enquired about the potential availability on loan of a number of fringe and youth team players at Madrid.

The Chronicle claims that the Spanish champions might be willing to listen to offers for Casilla as it is understood that Madrid are currently looking to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window.

Benitez is reportedly determined to bring in some new faces to St James’ Park before the team returns for pre-season training next week.

This comes after the report in the Daily Mail which claimed that the Spanish manager was seriously considering his future club due to a lack of summer signings.

Benitez will be fully aware of Casilla’s qualities between the sticks as he signed the goalkeeper during his short spell as Madrid boss two years ago.

The Spanish goalkeeper made a total of 19 appearances last season, keeping a total of six clean sheets in the process.

Casilla’s current contract at the Bernabeu expires in 2020.
