Newcastle United are in the running to sign Hull City defender Andrew Robertson, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

Sky Bet have priced the newly-promoted Premier League side at 4/1 to secure the signature of the 23-year-old during the summer transfer window as manager Rafa Benitez looks to add new faces to St James’ Park next season.

The Magpies are currently behind fellow Premier League side Liverpool who are placed at 9/4 but Burnley are leading the way at 5/4 to land the Scottish defender this summer.

The odds have shortened on Newcastle landing Robertson after they were 12/1 in the betting at the end of last month.

This came after the Sun reported that Liverpool had agreed a deal to sign the Hull left-back and were set to announce his arrival when the transfer window opened.

Robertson is renowned for his ability to provide the team with width and produce an attacking threat in the full-back role.

The defender signed for Hull at the beginning of the 2014-15 season and he instantly became a regular in the starting lineup, featuring in 24 Premier League matches.

However, his debut season at the club would end in disappointment as Hull were relegated to the Championship.

The following season saw Robertson produce some of the best football of his career as he helped Hull to bounce straight back to the English top flight, scoring four goals and providing five assists in all competitions.

The Scotland international performed well in his second full campaign in the Premier League but he was unable to prevent the Yorkshire from relegation once again.

Robertson’s Premier League experience could be a massive bonus for Newcastle next season.
