Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter to call for their club to re-sign Bayer Leverkusen ace Javier Hernandez following his latest striking masterclass.

The Old Trafford faithful’s messages come after Hernandez put in a fine performance in Mexico’s 2-2 draw with Portugal in Sunday afternoon’s Confederations Cup clash.

Portugal took the lead in the 34th minute through Ricardo Quaresma, but Hernandez was on hand to head home on the brink of half time to level the scores.

Southampton’s Cedric then looked to have nicked a winner for Portugal in the 86th minute, only for Hector Moreno to bag an injury time equaliser.

Hernandez plied his trade at Old Trafford between 2010 and 2015, before he was sold to Leverkusen for £10million.

During that five year spell he became a real fan favourite in Manchester for his goal scoring ability, and he netted 58 goals in 159 league and cup games for the club.

The United supporters were clearly impressed by his efforts for Mexico, as they took to Twitter to call for manager Jose Mourinho to sign him this summer.

He has now been capped by Mexico on 92 occasions, and he has scored 48 goals.
