Pundit Stan Collymore admits he cannot wait to see new Manchester United signing Victor Lindelof in action next season.

Collymore took to his personal Twitter account on Wednesday night to deliver his verdict on the transfer, less than an hour after the deal was officially completed.

He said: “Like the thought of Lindelof and Bailly as a pairing, potentially for some years to come. Looking forward to seeing them together.”

Manchester United had provided confirmation of the transfer on their official club website earlier on Wednesday, where it was revealed that Lindelof had put pen-to-paper on a four-year-deal.

The 22-year-old defender also has the option to extend his deal by a further year, with the Daily Mail reporting that an agreement had been reached with Lindelof’s previous employers Benfica over a £30.7million fee.

But Collymore admits that he is looking forward to seeing the centre-back partnership the Sweden international is likely to form with last summer’s big-money addition, Eric Bailly at Old Trafford next term.

Jose Mourinho splashed the cash a year ago to land the Villarreal rock in a £30million deal, but the Portuguese remains unsatisfied with his defensive options, and has reportedly forked out a larger sum on Lindelof.

The 12-time Sweden international made 73 appearances in all competitions for Benfica during his five-year stay at the Portuguese giants, and is set to begin his latest challenge when the transfer window opens on July 1.
