Manchester United have sent scouts to watch Celtic youngster Kieran Tierney in action, according to the Daily Star.

The newspaper claim that the 20-year-old was the centre of attention during Scotland’s 2-2 draw with England at Hampden a week ago, as United eye a new left-sided full-back this summer.

Tierney made his first-team breakthrough at Celtic at the start of the 2015-16 campaign, but has since established himself as an indispensable member of the first-team squad.

He has come on leaps and bounds as a player over the last two years and has thrived under Brendan Rodgers, contributing two goals and 12 assists during Celtic’s treble-winning domestic triumph last season.

His good form has alerted a number of Europe’s elite clubs, and Premier League giants Manchester United have been credited with a long-term interest in his services.

Celtic value the player at £15million and are determined to fend-off interest for his signature, but United’s interest appears sincere after three different scouts assessed his recent displays for the international side.

Tierney signed a new five-year deal at the start of last season, and it remains to be seen if Celtic can retain his services throughout the remainder of his long-term contract, particularly amid such high-profile interest.

Luke Shaw is one of the current left-back options under contract at Manchester United, but manager Jose Mourinho remains unconvinced in his ability after a series of serious injuries.

Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo have also been deployed in a left full-back role, but Mourinho’s reported quest to land Tierney suggests neither of the trio give him full satisfaction either.
