Bayern Munich want to replace retired club legend Phillip Lahm with Tottenham defender Kyle Walker, according to a report in the Express.

The newspaper claims that the European giants are ready to hijack the 27-year-old’s much-anticipated switch from Spurs to Manchester City, with their Premier League rivals expected to make an offer for the £45million-rated player this week.

It is said Bayern, who are managed by former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti, have been keeping tabs on the right-back for the last few months.

England international Walker ended the Premier League season under Mauricio Pochettino by losing his first-team spot to Kieran Trippier.

Towards the back end of the campaign, Walker was selected to start from the bench for a number of big games, including the north London derby against Arsenal, FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea and the final match at White Hart Lane.

This resulted in Pochettino having to defend his decision in leaving Walker out of the starting XI and denying that he was not selecting him for the big matches.

It is also said that Ancelotti believes Walker would fit in perfectly at the Allianz Arena, with the Italian looking to replace Lahm who retired at end of the season after 15 years of service to the club.

Added with that, the report states that Walker would cost £150,000-a-week in wages, with the speed machine signing a five-year contract with Spurs last September.
