Manchester City’s new signing Bernardo Silva has reassured fans about his suspected injury.

The new £43 million signing was thought to have picked up a bad ankle injury while on international duty with Portugal.

The 23-year-old limped off at half time during Portugal’s 4-0 victory over New Zealand in the Confederations Cup, and worried fans that he would be sidelined.

Silva landed awkwardly on his ankle following a heavy challenge from a Kiwi defender when he scored Portugal’s second goal, and continued to play for a further eight minutes until half time when he was replaced.

However, the winger reassured fans and thanked supporters for their messages on his official Twitter account on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola’s new arrival revealed that “everything was fine” with his ankle.

Manchester City begin their pre-season training in two weeks time and will then depart a week later for the squad’s US tour.

Before injuring his ankle, the Portuguese international displayed a promising performance which showed that he could be a key contributor to City’s squad next season, after his passing and quick pace proved too much for the New Zealand’s defence.
