Leicester City wing wizard Riyad Mahrez has urged his club to lower his price tag as he looks to make a move away this summer, according to a Sun report.

The newspaper claims the 26-year-old is “concerned” that his £40million asking price will put off potential suitors such as Arsenal and Tottenham.

It is said the Algerian wants to play Champions League football next season, something the Gunners cannot offer, but a move to “long-term admirers” Tottenham could be on the cards.

The report claims Mahrez has requested a move away from the King Power Stadium this summer, but he does not have a release clause in his contract.

Monaco are also reportedly interested in acquiring the 26-year-old’s services this summer, and he may be open to a return to France, where he played for Le Havre from 2011 to 2014.

This comes after a previous Sun report claimed the Gunners were ready to offer £40million for the player.

Mahrez was a mainstay in the Foxes midfield this term, scoring six goals in 36 appearances.

However, he has failed to replicate the form of 2015/16 which saw him win Leicester’s Player of the Year award, as he bagged 17 goals in 37 league games, driving his club to the Premier League title.

He has been capped by Algeria 30 times, scoring eight goals.
