Arsenal are ready to splash the cash this summer and they are preparing a £40million bid in order to land the signature of Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, according to The Sun.

The report claims that manager Arsene Wenger is considering making a move for the 26-year-old Algerian international.

Mahrez recently revealed in a statement, released by Sky Sports, that he wants to leave the King Power Stadium this summer.

The Sun claim that the Foxes will not accept anything less than £40million for the winger.

Mahrez joined Leicester from French outfit Le Havre in 2014 January transfer window and he played a key role in helping the club return to the Premier League for the first time since 2004.

The Algerian enjoyed his best ever campaign during the 2015-16 season as he was instrumental in helping Leicester become Premier League champions for the first time in their history.

Mahrez scored a total of 17 Premier League goals and he provided 11 assists during Leicester’s title winning campaign.

His performances saw him named the 2016 PFA Player of the Year – the first African footballer to win the prize.

The winger did not manage to replicate his sensational form in the league this season but he did produce some impressive performances in the Champions League, scoring a total of four goals in the competition.
